FAQs
What kind of clients do you work with?
With a 30 year track record in the travel and tourism sector, it’s no surprise most clients are from this background. That said, many aspects of marketing can be applied to any industry. The principles of clear messaging and the importance of an efficient marketing resource are not exclusive to one industry, so a client might be a large tourist board or a local Kent business with a focus on its local market.
I work with a diverse mix of UK and overseas travel clients. The former are typically outbound tour operators, or are businesses looking to develop destinations and products in Europe. Some work has been undertaken to explore distribution opportunities in Australia and New Zealand - this has required field visits to investigate travel agencies, wholesalers and brochure distribution, working with the UKTI's Open To Export initiative. Overseas clients are generally seeking to develop their presence in the UK, in terms of both sales and awareness. These are usually tour operators, marketing groups or tourist boards.
What services can you offer through associate partners?
With many years in the travel industry, my little black book of contacts is actually quite hefty. I work with associates across various fields: design, digital marketing (SEO/PPC), social media, web development, print, publishing, PR and representation services. I am well placed to provide services to suit all scales and ambitions.
Flexibility is the name of the game. Times are unpredictable so we all need to be responsive. Russet can give you what you need, according to brief, on a project basis or on a monthly retainer. It could be as little as one day to achieve the task in hand.
Where a business needs a marketing management resource, it all depends on the load. It might be a short-term ‘push’ to overcome a backlog, or a temporary period such as maternity cover etc. Or it might be more of an ongoing nature: 1 day per week, a couple of days per month, or more. It’s all a question of what you need and want for peace of mind and to allow you to get on with other work. The key is for you to be able to relax, knowing your all-important marketing is in safe hands.
What kind of service model do you adopt?
I just need some assistance with my blogs - can Russet help?
Unique, regularly refreshed blog posts with relevant, on-brand content are a key component of today's fully optimised website. When trailered on social media it's a powerful driver of traffic to your website. But it's not something that can be rattled off in 5 minutes. Russet can provide this content, with topics selected according to your Google Analytics data. Click to see some examples here.
Yes. I am firmly in the 'competent amateur' category and generally take shots when on market visits or press/fam trips. While I cannot commit to technical requirements for challenging environments, I have plenty of experience putting together brochures and the like. As a result I have an eye for composition and know what will work later at the creative stage. For specialist requirements I work with professionals, particularly in France. The banner images on this website are all taken by me (with the exception of the home page) and a few examples feature in the gallery below.
